Dot Day
Description: In class, we read The Dot a children's book, and created our own dots using many types of medium. I used watercolor crayons, oil pastels, Crayola markers, watercolors, and regular crayons. I wrote "I am great" with a white crayon and used red, blue, and purple markers to add wiggly lines around it. Then I used watercolor crayons and shaded in the background. Lastly, I added white oil pastel stars and painted the dot with red and blue watercolors. The colors blended together to create almost an ombre effect while leaving the white crayon and oil pastels untouched.
Extension Activity:I think this could be a great activity to integrate into Kindness Day. Students can write positive notes on 3 dots each. Then as a class, they will switch their dots with 3 other people. Then students will paint their new dots to reveal some positive comments. Then 2 of the 3 dots they create will be added to a hallway board for world Kindness Day!
